Saranac Center Seat Lid

Got it fast, fit perfectly, installed easily.

This replacement center seat lid is a perfect fit for the one that blew off while transporting the canoe on a truck roof rack. It's a little pricey, but TG Watersports seems to be the only source for replacements, and the center seat is useless without it, so it's worth the price and shipping was fast. Not sure why the original lid survived for 8 years without flying off, but it won't happen again. I guess some of us who have lost these should write reviews of the Saranac 146 and warn owners to bungee the seat lid down before putting it on a roof rack.

Bought this item to replace the original which broke when flipping the canoe over on dry ground. Fits tight, snaps down tight, perfect.

We found out that this part of the canoe regularly falls off when it is not tied down during transport. Thank goodness for replacements!

The seat fit perfectly, I'm glad that a replacement seat was still available and I'm very happy to have our canoe at full capacity again.

Note to self - always bungee the middle seat down before transporting the canoe!

Apparently the middle seat blowing off on the highway is not an uncommon problem, I hope a more effective catch mechanism will be introduced in the future to prevent this. Our kids have grown now, but when they were younger we regularly hauled two adults, two boys and a 60 pound dog around on our Saranac. We still love our canoe and look forward to many more adventures in the future.

I own a Saranac Old Town Canoe and while traveling to the lake in the mountains nearby my house. I lost my center seat lid because I did not remember to tape it closed the ensure that the wind would not blow it open while driving on the highway. The replacement lid I purchased is identical and just as good as the original.
